Set off on an adventure on the turquoise waters of Lake Neuchâtel, with its sandbanks and unspoilt nature reserve.
The sailing boat
The Maxus 21 is a 6.5 m live-aboard sailing yacht, designed by naval architect Jacek Daszkiewicz and built by the Polish shipyard Northman. Rigged as a fractional sloop with a furling genoa, a battened mainsail with lazy-jack and a gennaker, it offers an excellent balance between performance and ease of manoeuvring. Its lifting keel (draught from 0.35 to 1.45 m) allows access to shallow areas and beaches of Lake Neuchâtel. The spacious cockpit comfortably accommodates 6 people, and the fully equipped cabin — 12V fridge, gas hob, crockery, 2 double beds — allows you to stay on board for several nights in complete self-sufficiency.
If you’re looking to rental a sailing boat in Switzerland, Lake Neuchâtel offers one of the best sailing experiences in the country. More unspoilt and less crowded than Lake Geneva or Lake Constance, it is the largest lake entirely within Switzerland. With its regular thermal winds (the famous Joran), its fine sandy beaches, and the magnificent Grande Cariçaie nature reserve, sailing aboard a liveaboard yacht like the Maxus 21 guarantees an unforgettable getaway in the heart of Switzerland.
Although Lake Geneva is the best known, Lake Neuchâtel is often considered the best preserved and most pleasant for recreational sailing. Its clear waters, steady winds and unspoilt natural environment make it a prime choice for boat rental in Switzerland.
Yes, to rent a live-aboard sailing yacht such as our Maxus 21, a sailing licence (category D) is compulsory in Switzerland (for boats with a sail area of 15m² or more). Foreign licences (ICC) are generally recognised for tourists. Find out more about sailing licences in Switzerland.
